DecoRusExpo - Hotel National, Moscow, Russia 5-6 June 2017

Post-show Review

The 7th edition of DecoRus took place in the same beautiful and prestigious location as in previous years, the famous Hotel National, which faces the Kremlin.

Over seventy interior brands were on show, from wallpaper and textiles to accessories, furniture, lighting and objets d'art. These included predominantly British, Italian, French, German, American and several great Russian names. Many were returning for the 6th or 7th time, some of whom might have missed a year or two, due to economic conditions both in Europe and Russia, but now eager to be in with the first returning wave as the market recovery picks up. And we had a good selection of first-time exhibitors too.

A targeted publicity and PR campaign preceded the show - via internet, emailing, a telephone campaign and in the traditional media. All the top press and interior media companies had stands at the show, as well as other interior Russian and international shows and exhibitions.

Visitor numbers exceeded one and a half thousand professionals over the two days, and included all the top Russian interior accounts, as well as many new companies from both Moscow and beyond.

The vast majority of visitors pre-registered via the official website, which allows us to monitor interest in the show and particular product sectors. Interestingly, for the 7th year running, textiles are still the strongest area of interest, but we have noticed an increasing number of visitors interested in performance fabrics and wall coverings and in the Contract sector. These would be used for bars, restaurants, boutique hotels and generally any high-traffic areas. Fortunately, quite a few brands present were able to satisfy this interest, and we expect this number to grow in 2018.

One of the ways to encourage early registration was to offer a special discount to visitors or to raffle free sets of collection books, which certainly encouraged a crowd to gather at the stands concerned when the draw was held - a tradition to continue.

In terms of visitor distribution, over 75 percent came from Moscow and the surrounding regions, 10% from St Petersburg and the traditional presence of Ekaterinburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Irkutsk, Chelyabinsk, Sochi, Samara, Kursk and even Vladivistok. We are very grateful to our returning visitors for their continuing interest, and look forward to welcoming them again next year.

Another important attraction for visitors was the seminar program, led by carefully selected brands, who presented their image, new trends, and a fascinating voyage into the world of design. Instagram and Facebook are now full of photos and videos, taken by the participants of the program - do look under DecoRus hashtag! The most popular seminar, given by the famous Russian designer Elena Teplitskaya, did not have enough floor space for everyone wanting to join in! Thank you, Elena.

We look forward to welcoming you all back in 2018 on the 4 and 5 June to the same beautiful place, the Hotel National.
