2019 Post-Show Review

We used to call this the Press-Release, but the world is changing so fast, we realise that old clichés and formats disappear, and new and better ones are born every day. This was the first DecoRus where so many visitors came to the show, not after reading about it in the traditional press, but after discovering it on social networks, through facebook, instagram, and banners on interior design websites - and, of course, by word of mouth. This trend is set to continue, so we will be investing more resources into such social channels. We learn together with the market!

The DecoRusExpo 2019 Post Show Review

The show was yet again a great success. Over one thousand six hundred professional visitors came to us during the two days of the show, with three-quarters having pre-registered via the show website, and the rest at the door. Eighteen percent registered themselves as business owners, the rest ranging from specifiers to designers to project managers. Moscovites, as always, dominated the show, but exhibitors told us that they had many regional visitors this year. One visitor told us they got up at 3 am in Krasnodar to take a ten-hour train to be with us at the show, which makes us very honoured. Other visitors came from Irkutsk, Kazan, Saratov, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Kursk, and so on. St Petersburg was slightly less represented than before, but Siberia showed a large increase. All top Russian Interior design businesses visited the show, as we understand that DecoRus has become a “must” on their design calendar. We were even more delighted to hear that while several design shows had taken place in Moscow just a few days before us, DecoRus was undoubtedly the best targeted and the most useful.

In terms of exhibitors, the show was even more diverse internationally than before. Many came from the UK - GP&J Baker, James Hare, Colefax & Fowler, etc, with several Scottish visitors such MYB, Johnstons of Elgin, and The Isle Mill, who return to the show year after year. A number of great French brands – Zuber, Les Passementeries de l’Isle de France, Élitis, Casal, and SiGébène; several top Italian names such as Flilippo Uercher, Setafina, and Alessandro Bini, and others from America, Spain, Germany, Austria, Poland - and of course, some top Russian names. We were delighted to host so many returning brands and to welcome new ones - such as Holly Hunt, Edmund Bell and Lizzo. Almost all exhibitors have told us that they will be back in 2020 - and several have already asked for larger stands!

DecoRusExpo June 2019We would like to mention a strong program of seminars and lectures, which were integral to the show. Charlie Hare was tremendously well received, as Russian visitors always like his company’s lectures on silks. Mandi Danesi introduced top-end Phillip Jeffries wall coverings to the Russian audience, and our friends at Manders organised a very successful lectorium on the second day. There was full attendance for the talk by the company’s founder Alexey Eliseev and a subsequent talk about Table Décor, which was most colourful. Alessandro Bini was passionate about his subject of fabrics and the environment, and we look forward to hearing more from him next year!

Just to finish, some of the quotes from our lovely visitors:

The only top-end interiors show in Moscow

All the best brands. We cannot always come to Paris or London, but we appreciate them coming to us in Moscow!"

Dates of the next DecoRus are marked in my calendar a year ahead:

Coming to this show is like going to see my friends, I have not missed one in nine years
